Spotlight Event: “Festival: A Youth Concert” at BYU
This summer, Upstage Companies had the incredible honor of producing “Festival: A Youth Concert” for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Held on the campus of Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, this was no ordinary concert.
Taking place during a special week of the Church’s global youth conference, For the Strength of Youth (FSY), the concert welcomed approximately 1,900 youth attendees — with an even greater audience in mind. The event was shot professionally and will be broadcast to youth worldwide, beginning August 7, in English, Spanish, and Portuguese.The broadcast will include uplifting music, joyful worship, and powerful performances from artists featured on Strive to Be — plus footage from sister events in Mexico and Brazil.

Hosting a major concert on a university campus — especially on manicured athletic fields — calls for extra care. That’s why we provided specialty field protection across the entire footprint, including heavy traffic areas used by trucks, cranes, and production gear. Every effort was made to preserve the grass and infrastructure while delivering a seamless show.
Pro Show Logistics: In-House Event Transportation, On-Time Arrival
Having our own trucking division — Pro Show Logistics — was a game-changer for this event. Instead of relying on third-party freight, we were able to transport all our own equipment and gear with maximum efficiency, full control, and absolute reliability. This reduced load times, increased responsiveness, and ensured everything arrived right on schedule.
Expert Planning With Vectorworks
Behind every polished show is a carefully crafted plan. For this production, Brian Carico, Upstage’s VP of Operations & Production, used Vectorworks — the industry-standard 3D design and planning software — to plan the entire site, develop stage plots, rigging diagrams, and lighting layouts. This allowed the entire team, from crew chiefs to church leadership, to visualize the space, streamline approvals, and execute with confidence.
