The Upstage Training Academy
You will not be sent to a show and left to work it out. Crew rotate through weekly, in-person sessions across six disciplines, on the same gear you will use on site.
Sound system setup, operation and troubleshooting, for clear audio on any size of room.
Selecting, rigging and operating fixtures and consoles to build the look a show needs.
Procedure and safety protocol for suspending truss, lighting and scenic elements overhead.
Screens, projectors and LED wall, plus content management and live switching.
Getting power to every system on site safely: cable, connectors and generators.
Assembly, breakdown and arrangement of platforms and stages that stay stable under load.
Training runs on industry-standard equipment, including L-Acoustics audio systems, MA Lighting grandMA3 consoles, Elation lighting and Stageline mobile stages, and covers everything from knot technique and terminology through to safe load-in and load-out. Graduates of the Conservatory of Recording Arts & Sciences and Arizona State University’s Popular Music Program have used the Academy as a way to put a formal education to work on real shows.
