How We Work Safely
Live event work is fast, heavy and overhead. These are the habits that keep a build clean from load-in to strike.
Crew come through the Upstage Training Academy before they work a show, not after.
Proper procedure for suspending truss, lighting and scenic elements overhead, taught and enforced.

The Upstage Training Academy
The Academy is the most comprehensive training programme for live event labor in the Mountain West, and it is where our safety culture is actually built. Crew rotate through weekly in-person sessions across six disciplines: audio, lighting, rigging, video, power distribution, and staging and decking. Training runs on industry-standard gear, including L-Acoustics audio systems, MA Lighting grandMA3 consoles, Elation lighting and Stageline mobile stages, and covers knot technique and terminology through to safe load-in and load-out procedure. Where a client has its own process or preferred setup, we train crew to match it before they arrive.
Certifications and Credentials

Held by members of our crew, including on builds run to a client's own OSHA compliance requirements.
Stageline certification for setup and operation of our SL-series mobile stages, including at leadership level.
Many of our audio, lighting, video and rigging technicians hold industry certifications in their discipline.
Our accessibility platforms are specified for ADA compliance, not improvised on site.
What That Looks Like Under Pressure
On the Red Bull Energy Station build for TwitchCon San Diego, our crew worked a second-storey structure in winds over 45 mph. Throughout the project the team maintained full compliance with OSHA and the client's own safety standards, using high-visibility gear, hard hats, retractable lifelines and fall protection systems. The build and strike were completed without incident.
